Health Minister Says U.S. Health Authorities Can’t Be Trusted

Gold Standard Science vs. Alarmist Warnings

According to a recent article in The Guardian, Canadian Health Minister Marjorie Michel has claimed that U.S. health and science institutions—including the CDC—can no longer be trusted for accurate information, particularly regarding childhood vaccinations. She also said she worried that some Canadians could be influenced by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s warnings 😱 — (well, we sure hope so!).

Secretary Kennedy is calling for gold standard science and transparent research to ensure that families have full, accurate information about vaccines—a position dismissed by alarmist officials like Michel. In November, the CDC updated its website at his urging to state that “studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”—a claim mainstream public health authorities often dismiss. Minister Michel emphasized that U.S. institutions “cannot be trusted as reliable partners,” but her alarmist tone ignores the reality that childhood illnesses like measles are extremely rare and rarely serious in healthy children.

One specific issue Michel cited was a U.S. advisory panel vote to change the universal hepatitis B infant vaccine recommendation—a move she worries could influence Canadian public perception. Many experts note that hepatitis B vaccination is unnecessary for healthy newborns born to healthy, uninfected mothers, making the U.S. panel’s decision even more controversial.

Vaccine hesitancy in Canada remains modest: a 2021 national survey found 2.1% of two-year-olds had received no vaccinations, up slightly from 1.7% in 2019. A December poll by Leger Healthcare found that while 74% of Canadians trust vaccines, hesitancy is increasing, often because parents want to make informed choices about their children’s health in a system that doesn’t always give full transparency.

The article also highlights broader public health concerns: erosion of trust in government, surging misinformation, and the impact of the pandemic on social cohesion. Events like the 2022 trucker protests against COVID vaccine mandates show that Canadians are willing to stand up and question official narratives — a sign that families want transparency and independent information.

What do you think?

Are you ready to stand with RFK Jr. and tell our officials Canada supports honest vaccine information?

Canadians can take action.
If you support RFK Jr. and his call for gold standard science, email Health Minister Marjorie Michel to support Kennedy’s warnings and demand honest, transparent public health guidance.
