CDC Appoints Thimerosal Researcher David Geier to Lead Vaccines-Autism Study

On March 7, 2025, the CDC announced a new study examining potential links between vaccines and autism, citing a commitment to high-quality research and transparency.

The study will utilize data from the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), a database established in 1990 to track vaccine safety using electronic health records from healthcare organizations across the U.S.

A significant development in this study is the appointment of David Geier, a researcher known for studying the toxicity of Thimerosal, as the senior data analyst. Thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used in some vaccines, has been a subject of controversy due to concerns about its potential link to neurodevelopmental disorders. While Thimerosal was largely phased out of childhood vaccines by 2001, it remains in some multi-dose flu shots and, according to critics, may still be present in trace amounts in other vaccines.

As the study moves forward, expect it to reignite debate on the role of Thimerosal and vaccine ingredients in neurodevelopmental conditions. The progress and findings will be closely watched by both public health officials and vaccine safety/informed consent advocates worldwide.
