Canada Faces Alarming Surge in Unexplained Deaths Linked to COVID Policies

A recent report by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), titled Post-Covid Canada: The Rise in Unexpected Deaths, has raised serious concerns about the unintended consequences of COVID-19 policies in Canada.

The report analyzes Statistics Canada data from 2020 to 2024, revealing a troubling increase in “unexpected” or “excess” deaths during and after the era of COVID lockdowns and vaccine mandates.

Key Findings:

  1. Significant Increase in Unexpected Deaths: In 2022, Canada experienced 31,370 unexpected deaths, a sharp rise from 13,510 in 2021 and 14,950 in 2020. This pattern suggests a growing trend of unexplained fatalities.

  2. COVID-19 Deaths Misclassification: Up to 10,000 deaths among seniors in 2020 and 2021 were misclassified as COVID-19 deaths. During the same period, there were significant decreases in deaths from other causes, such as respiratory diseases, dementia and Parkinson’s disease, raising questions about the accuracy of COVID-19 death reporting.

  3. Impact of Lockdowns and Vaccine Mandates: Deaths from causes linked to lockdowns, such as drug overdoses, alcohol-related illnesses, hypertension, and delayed medical procedures, increased significantly during the pandemic.

  4. Rising Unexplained Deaths Among Younger Canadians: Among Canadians under age 45 who died in 2022, more than 15% had no assigned cause of death, indicating a concerning rise in unexplained fatalities.

Call for Action:

The JCCF urges the Canadian government to take immediate steps to address these issues:

  • Provide Timely and Accurate Death Data: Address chronic reporting delays at the provincial and federal levels to ensure transparency.

  • Investigate Harms Caused by COVID-19 Policies: Conduct independent and transparent inquiries into the short-term and long-term harms caused by government responses to COVID-19.

  • Protect Freedom of Expression for Professionals: Ensure that Canadian professionals can freely discuss and report on the impacts of COVID-19 policies without fear of retribution.

The JCCF’s report underscores the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the policies implemented during the pandemic and their lasting effects on public health. Canadians deserve an honest and transparent assessment to prevent future harm and uphold their constitutional rights.
