Dr. Mark Trozzi: “Calamari Clots” Unexplained Blood Structures Ignored by Health Authorities
Unusual white, fibrous blood structures reported since 2021 may represent a previously unidentified phenomenon—yet no public health investigation has been launched.
Unusual white, rubbery blood structures—dubbed “calamari clots” by embalmers—have been reported worldwide since 2021.
In two detailed Substack articles, Dr. Mark Trozzi examines a three-part research series published in late January 2026 by researchers Bruce Rapley and Matt Shelton, describing formations that do not behave like typical blood clots but instead appear to be a distinct and unexplained vascular phenomenon. Despite consistent reports and ongoing analysis, health authorities have not acknowledged or investigated the findings.
Researchers examining these structures, now referred to as anomalous intravascular casts (AICs), say they do not match known clotting processes. Unlike conventional clots, these formations show consistent features:
- Long, branching and often extending through entire sections of the vascular system
- White or cream-colored rather than dark red
- Rubbery, elastic and resistant to breakdown
- Structurally intact, forming casts that mirror the shape of blood vessels
Microscopic analysis further distinguishes them, showing minimal red blood cell content and a dense, fibrous architecture with an unusual level of organization—features that do not align with clotting mechanisms observed during life or after death.
Further analysis into their composition suggests the material does not match standard fibrin-based clot biology and appears chemically distinct from normal blood products. The precise molecular identity remains unknown, leaving researchers unable to classify the structures within existing medical frameworks. The findings are based on preprint research that has not yet undergone peer review.
An additional analysis examining protein composition adds another layer. Researchers identified hundreds of proteins but found abnormal fibrin structure and a severe depletion of plasminogen, a key enzyme involved in breaking down clots. This suggests the formations may be resistant to normal biological degradation, raising further questions about how they persist within the vascular system.
A Pattern That Demands Explanation
What stands out is when these structures began appearing. According to embalmers and field reports, they were rarely, if ever, observed prior to 2021. Since then, reports have increased across multiple countries, with similar fibrous material also noted in some living patients. In some cases, the material has been described as unusually tough and elastic, even producing a distinct sound when cut—consistent with a dense, structured composition.
The timing raises obvious questions. These reports began emerging during the global rollout of COVID shots, yet no regulatory body has examined a possible connection.
Despite repeated observations and documented analysis, there has been no federal investigation, no public health advisory and no effort to track or classify the phenomenon. A consistent and observable finding is being reported worldwide, yet it remains unaddressed by the very institutions responsible for monitoring public safety.
Unanswered Questions
This is not routine clotting. If these structures represent a new type of intravascular formation, the implications could include undetected vascular obstruction, misdiagnosed cardiovascular complications and significant gaps in post-injection safety monitoring.
For now, the key facts remain: these structures are being reported across countries, they do not match known biology and they remain unexplained.
And despite that, no meaningful investigation has begun.
