Vera Sharav’s New Book Warns Against Blind Obedience and Centralized Power
Holocaust survivor and human rights advocate Vera Sharav is urging people to remember the lessons of history in her newly released book, Never Again Is Now Global: The Dangers of the One-World Final Solution.
In a recent interview on CHD.TV, Sharav said she wrote the book to warn readers that the conditions that made some of history’s greatest atrocities possible did not emerge overnight—and that many of the same warning signs are appearing again today.
“I have a mission … to call attention to what most people thought of as unthinkable,” Sharav said.
Sharav, founder of the Alliance for Human Research Protection, has spent decades advocating for informed consent, medical ethics and human rights. A survivor of the Holocaust, she believes her childhood experiences provide a unique perspective on the importance of questioning authority and protecting individual freedoms.
Lessons From History
According to Sharav, history demonstrates that the erosion of civil liberties often begins gradually. She argues that fear, propaganda, censorship and unquestioning obedience to authority can create conditions in which fundamental rights are compromised.
Her new book expands on themes explored in her documentary series, Never Again Is Now Global, bringing together essays and commentary from scientists, physicians, historians and journalists examining the social, political and ethical consequences of the COVID-19 response.
Rather than presenting a single viewpoint, Sharav said she intentionally sought diverse contributors to encourage readers to think critically and examine multiple perspectives.
“The book is trying to alert people,” she said.
Questioning Authority
Throughout her CHD.TV interview, Sharav emphasized what she considers one of the most important lessons from both history and recent years: individuals have a responsibility to think independently rather than simply follow official directives.
“The first thing that we need to do is learn to say no,” she said. “Disobey.”
She pointed to the Nuremberg Doctors’ Trials following the Second World War, where “following orders” was rejected as a legal defense for unethical medical experimentation.
“You are responsible for your own actions, no matter what you’re being told by someone else,” Sharav said.
Sharav also challenged the idea that scientific understanding should never be questioned.
“This idea of ‘trust the science’—what is ‘the science’?” she asked. “Science is something that evolves and changes all the time as new information is gathered.”
“We’re being treated like a flock of animals.”
Vera Sharav is urging people to take responsibility for their own actions, not blindly follow orders.

COVID-19 and Civil Liberties
Much of the book examines how governments around the world responded to COVID-19 and the lasting implications those policies may have for civil liberties, public discourse and medical ethics.
Sharav argues that pandemic-era measures—including censorship of dissenting viewpoints, restrictions on personal freedoms and increasing centralization of decision-making—should be carefully examined rather than accepted without scrutiny.
She contends that protecting informed consent and preserving open scientific debate are essential safeguards against future abuses of power.
“Without Our Obedience, They Are Powerless”
Despite expressing concern about global trends, Sharav said she remains optimistic that many people have become more willing to question authority than they were at the beginning of the pandemic.
Ultimately, she believes lasting change begins with individual responsibility.
“Without our obedience, they are powerless,” Sharav said. “We all have that duty to say no.”
Her message is not simply about the past, but about encouraging future generations to remain vigilant whenever governments, institutions or experts ask citizens to surrender fundamental rights without question.
